Being Single Has Many Advantages.

Getting married is one of the most important things for ancient people in their life, and people who get married and have children used to be thought to have a perfect life. In the 20th century, people got married late. Nowadays there are much more people choosing to be single instead of getting married late in the 21st century. Because they found it has many advantages. These advantages include financial, independent, and emotional benefits.

First of all, being single has more financial benefits. Single people can save more money on his/her utilities. Their daily expense normally will be less than a married couple. For instance, the monthly electricity bill or water bill can be cheaper, because single people live alone and don’t use it too much. Therefore, they can spend their money on other places. Single people earn money for themselves and can fully control it. For example, a single woman may buy several expensive bags for herself as collections, and she won’t get complaint by the mate. Single people have less financial problems than married couples. Single people only need to earn money for themselves, but a married couple may need to provide money for entire family expense. For example, a married couple who have kids need to spend lots of money on raising a child, such as tuition.

Second, single people can be more independent, so they can have variety of social lives. They can go any date without telling their partner first. If a married man always wants to have a date with other women, they may not be loyal to his marriage. Single people have much more freedom than married. They don’t have to change their lifestyle while they live alone. For instance, some couple may adjust sleeping habit to coupe with their partner, such as turn on or turn off the light when they are sleeping. Single people also can learn to be more independent. They have to be independent because they have to do everything by themselves. For example, single people might have to learn to cook or fix a computer.

The final advantage is emotional benefits. Single people only have to care about his/her parents and relatives. Their emotion won’t get affected from an extended family. Nobody will nag at single people if they have some bad habits. Their emotional won’t get effect. For example, single people can wash theirs clothes once a month if they like. Single people’s emotional won’t get effected from his/her mate. Married couples have to take care each other, so inevitably. For example, if a wife is sick, the husband might not concentrate on his work. They have emotional burdens for the mate’s sadness or happiness.

In brief, the lifestyle of being single has more benefits. They can save more money, more independent and more emotional freedom.

Three Days weekend

Nobody should hate long weekend, because he/she can take a rest from his/her job or do the things he/she likes to do. The bride and the groom are both Taiwanese, and they have been dating for over two years. Their wedding will be held on Newport Beach. I wish all of the guests will have a joyful time from their wedding. At last, I would like to stay at home for one day. I don't think I will do chores. I will watch TV program and call my parents. Thanksgiving is coming up soon. What three things are you most thankful for?

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is not only one of the most important holidays for America and Canada but also full of meaning for people. On this day, they celebrate together, thanks for the God, and their harvest. Since it is my first time in America to learn about English and culture, I also would like to thankful three things in my life. First of all, I want to thank for my parents. They are the persons treating me best in the world. For instance, I used to have bad manner, but they always forgive me. They work very hard and thrifty, but they try to give me and my brothers the best things they can offer. Second, I would like to thank for my husband George. He is a very kind and patient person. For example, he shopped with me for over 6 hours for my clothes many times without any complaint. Maybe he is not a perfect marriage partner, but he learns to be a perfect marriage partner. At last, I would like to thank for three of my best friends in Taiwan. We help each other and grow up together. For instance, even I study in America, they still care about me. We cherish our friendship very much. In conclusion, thanksgiving is a major holiday in America. People thanks to God, and families have reunions together. We should cherish everything in our lives and never take it for granted.

Three kinds of lies

Speaking of lies is not good, but there are three kinds of lies that we may speak during our life. The first kind of lie is lies to help yourself. This kind of lie is you want to protect yourself when something happen and it is bed for you. For example, oversleep workers may told their boss why they were late it all because of the bad traffic. Second, lies to help others. When you don’t want people who you care get hurt, you tell this kind of lie to help. For instance, you best friend got a bed grades, and you may tell he/her it is not so bed. The last is kind is lies to hurt others. If something is not so bad but you still disagree with it, it all because you don’t care or like it. For example, one of your friend you don’t like but one day she wear a beautiful dress, and you tell her it is ugly. One Storming Night

A young couple lived in a small Northeastern city. The wife worked for a technical company far away from home and she usually got home after dusk. It was a stormy day. The rain had been falling really hard most of the day. Some electric poles had been broken down by the rain heavy rain and wind. The husband got home around 5pm and prepared for the dinner as usual. He expected his wife to get home around 8pm like she always did. From the kitchen, he could hear the noise from her footsteps. He called out his wife’s name but didn’t get any response. The dinner started out like every other dinner. One thing that was different from this dinner was that she didn’t talk at all. He thought she must have been very tired from a long day at work. He was angry, but he decided to forget about it and go to bed early. They went to the bed after the quick meal. It was raining very hard outside and the room was completely dark. He almost fell asleep, but he could still feel his wife’s touch. It was so cold when she touched him. Her hand felt like ice. He decided to hold her to keep her warm. However, the wife’s body felt very wet. He wondered why her body was so wet. He just thought she went out into the rain after the meal. When he woke up next day, he quickly went into the bathroom. Then he turned on the radio to listen news in the morning. Suddenly, he heard there was an accident last night and one woman died. The woman who died had the same name as his wife! He ran into the bedroom and he couldn’t believe his eyes. In the place where she slept was empty. There was just a pile of blood. His wife was gone.

Halloween Party

It’s not only an impressive party to me but also a very first Halloween party I ever had in my life. I was looking forward to attending this party from weeks before the Halloween, because it is a traditional American holiday. On the day before the party, I spent 1 hour to dress up myself. I put some fake blood and cut holes on my dress. I also made up my face to look creepy because I didn’t want anyone to recognize me. When I arrived at the party, I heard loud music and it made me fell excited. I loved the loud music even it almost make me barely hear friends’ talking. Most of ALP students wore custom, such as vampire and clown. Each of them dressed very characteristic, and it didn’t look like their first Halloween party. During the party, I danced with my friends, talked with my classmates and it was so fun. I also saw Mr. Ewing and Sean bring their wife to the party. I was curious how they can find such a young and beautiful wife. Excitingly, everything in the Halloween party is so fresh to me. I have so much pleasant time that I cannot wait for next Halloween coming. These experiences to immerse these holidays in person give me good chances to know American culture in depth. This will also be my most precious memory in my life.

Las Vegas

Las Vegas is one of the most incredible cities in America. It is the capital of gambling in the world, and famous for its entertainment, shows, shopping, and vacation resorts. If anyone plans to go to Las Vegas for a vacation, I suggest they must try four things as below. The first thing is to visit different casino. Las Vegas is famous for lavish casinos such as Winn, Caesars Hotel, and Bellagio Palace that every tourist must take pictures. Second, watch some famous shows. For example, the O show in Bellagio is very special and exciting. Even tickets for shows are expensive, people who spend the money to watch shows will feel its worthiness. Third, go to buffets in some big hotels. In Las Vegas, you can find buffet in every hotel is affordable and delicious. The last thing is go gambling. You may become very rich or very poor during one night, and it is all depends on your luck. I like to play jackpot when I travel Las Vegas. Jackpot is very easy and just for fun to me. In conclusion, I still can’t find the way to win any money. If I won a lot of money from Las Vegas, I won’t be the student in CSUF anymore.

Tennis and Badminton

Even tennis and badminton let people feel like that they are the similar sports, but there are differences in many ways. The first difference is equipment. For example, people use two rackets, one ball for tennis and one bird for badminton when they play tennis and badminton, but the racket’s weight on these two sports are quite different. A tennis racket is heavier than a badminton racket, so girls usually like to play badminton more than tennis. Another difference is the court. People play tennis outdoor. On the other hand, badminton is played indoor. The ball for badminton is makes from plastic or feathers, so people play it indoor. The last difference is the rule. For instance, we serve a ball behind the side line when we play tennis, but the serve for badminton is inside the side lines. Some rules for these two sports are similar but still have some differences. In conclusion, tennis and badminton are all interesting sports.

McDonalds and In N Out

Although McDonalds and In N Out both are famous America fast food restaurants and sell hamburgers as their main product, there are quite a few differences. One difference is marketing. Every year McDonalds will try to create some new products to attract customers. However, In N Out only sells three kinds of hamburgers as their main product. In N Out doesn’t have too many choices. The other difference is their food-marketing segmentation. While McDonalds makes the hamburger before customers order it and quickly, In N Out only makes their hamburger after customers order it and fresh. That is why the hamburger from In N Out is usually tastes better than McDonalds. The final difference is reputation. McDonalds sells their products all over the world, and its logo already equals to hamburgers for people worldwide, so they are well-known in the world. In contrast, In N Out only sells to CA, NV, and AZ in America.
In conclusion, though there are some unlikeness between McDonalds and In N Out, they are all my favorite fast food restaurants.

A Person Hwo Has Made a Difference

A statesman who recently died in Taiwan is a person who has made a difference to my country’s political ecosystem. His name is Ding Nan Chen. Due to his behavior, he makes me believe there is somebody with integrity in politics. He is very honest in his political career and establishes a good judicial system. When he died, everyone was so shocked to believe it in my country. Almost everybody felt really sad that day. He died of lung cancer. However, he never smoked, drank or had any bad habit and devoted his entire life to improve the judicial system. As I know so far, very few people who work as a congressman or statesman can really carry on their ideals and disregard their personal desires. In conclusion, I think in the contemporary society we all need this kind of person to be our model, and make things better.

Research Halloween online and write a paragraph summarizing the holiday. No plagiarism! I'm watching you!
Halloween

Before I came to America, I expected Halloween coming. In my memory the Halloween is a very special holiday. It is different from our ghost festival (In ghost festival we be careful of everything). In America, people celebrated together, crazy…and TV also plays lots of horror movies. Halloween comes from the word all-hallow-even. In the November first, all-hallow-even is a Catholic day that is observed in honor of saints. In the 5th century BC was changed to October 31 because summer officially ended on October 31. One of the stories about Halloween was all of the spirits will come out and search of living people in Irish on the night of October 31. The Irish people didn’t want to be possessed, so they dress up as ghoulish and walked near their neighborhood. They did something destructive and they believe it can frighten away spirits. After the Irish immigrant to America, they also brought their custom to America. Because of that, nowadays Halloween becomes an important holiday to America or Canada. One of the most famous activities is trick-or-treat. Children disguise themselves and go to their neighborhoods to solicit the candies. If they don’t get the candies from their neighborhoods, they may trick them.

Weddings in My Country

Wedding in Taiwan is a big event for every family. But actually I think most men don’t want to marry too early, they still want to play video games or hang out with friends. Women don’t want to marry too early either. They would rather spend their whole salary in buying clothes. Although nowadays the dress of brides and grooms don’t have much difference than other countries, there are still some special customs elder people like to follow for the wedding in my country. First, most of the parents like to go to the temple and ask the fortune teller if the marriage for their children will have a good life after marriage or not. The old people expect wedding will bring everyone good luck. Second, we can find the groom family must prepare a wedding cake, a wedding cake will be passed to the bride family and friends. At last, in the wedding date, everyone will give a red envelope to the marriage couple. In short, there are some traditional of the wedding in my country.

Today, I was selected as a possible juror (someone who performs jury duty). However, the court decided that they already had enough jurors. Part of me wishes that I could have participated in the case to see what it is like in the courtroom. However, part of me is glad that I don't have to miss class (because of my wonderful students and also the money). In America, the legal system includes lawyers, judges, and jurors. How does the legal system work in your country? Who decides whether a person is innocent or guilty?

The legal system in my country.

The legal system in my country, we have judges, lawyers, and public procurators as main roles. As I know, the legal systems in Taiwan are the same as Japan, French, and Germany…other countries. In Taiwan, the judge makes decision if cases are guilt. The lawyer defends their customers. The public procurator provides evidence. We don’t have juries in the court as American, so a judge plays very important role in the court, but if accused defender feels the conviction is not fair, they can appealed his case to a higher court. But it is difficult to overturn a case, because you have to prepare convinced evidences to persuade the judge. It includes witnesses, material evidences, and you have to find some new evidences in a very short time. Usually, all of these will cost lots of money.

What is a friend ?

We made a lot of acquaintances in our life, but there are only few people who can be friends instead of just classmates, coworker. For me, a real friend can also be a soul mate, and it has following meaning to me. First, a friend should let you feel comfortable anytime. It means you can trust and talk about anything without secret, and the reason is you know they are reliable. Second, a friend should help you see the truth and face the problem. A friend should not only hang out to have fun, but also won’t leave you when you have the troubles or need some help. Third, friends have the same interest or things in common. Third, summer always let people feel full of energy. I like to utilize every minute of each summer day. That is why summer is my favorite season, and I can have a lot of happy memory for summer.

If you don't feel there is enough time for lunch, write an imaginary letter to the dean to persuade him to change the class schedules.
Dear Mr./Ms.,

I am an ALP student came from 4C. My name is Hui-Ying Yang. I hope it is not abrupt to email you regarding the fun lunch really clashed with our class schedule in 4C.Because we have a class and it begin from 11:30 to 12:45, we do not think we will have time to go to the fun lunch in this fall semester. As an ALP student, I also have been studying in CSUF since summer semester, I believe fun lunch is really important for us. First, we can have a chance to talk to conversation partner, speaking to native person can help us know more about English. Second, it is a good opportunity to hang out with other ALP student in different class, we can share about our life or some problem. Third, it is a good time to do some exercise, the ALP office usually offer soccer, badminton, and volleyball for us to play. But we do not have the time to do it. Hopefully you can consider the situation for us.

Sincerely,

Hui-Ying Yang

A Person Who Has Made a Difference

Before I came to America, a statesman died in Taiwan. He was very honest in his political career, and established a good judicatory system. When he died, everyone was so shocked to believe it in my country. Almost everybody felt really sad in that day. He was died of long cancer. But he never smoked, drank and had any bad habit. I think in the contemporary society we all need this kind of person to be our model, and make things better.

My Favorite Sport

I had been interested in many kinds of sports since I was a child, such as basketball, table tennis, badminton, and swimming. After I grow up, I find badminton is my favorite sport. One of the reasons is badminton is the most interesting and compelling sport to me, and it is also my mom’s favorite sport. She played badminton with me most of the time when I went home after school. Another reason is badminton is really easy for people to play. Badminton doesn’t need many people, so I can easily find a person to play with me. And the last reason is badminton is not the kind of intensive sport for girls to play. It is easy and safe, and it is usually played at indoor court so that the weather won’t be the factor to this sport no matter ts is raining or sizzling. That is way badminton is my favorite sport.
